Our Team

Our staff are driven to support food producers to accurately monitor and proactively prevent contamination in their process. From Impact’s customer service to its leadership team there is steadfast commitment to providing the highest quality and integrity services, taking into consideration the needs and requirements of our clients. We set the industry standard for customer trust and service.

Our team of microbiologists and technicians go through extensive training and routinely update their knowledge of procedures by taking courses, trainings and staying up to date on food safety literature.

Elena Connors

MLT, Director of Microbiology

Elena has worldwide experience from across Europe, Africa and North America in microbiology research and client services. She has been actively involved in developing and implementing laboratory procedures in NB, and Elena has trained many students and staff in laboratory techniques. Elena has developed Basic General Microbiology coursework and teachings and has been involved in a collaborative project to develop an improved method of Bacterial Oxidation of Sulphide Ores and Concentrates resulting in an international Patent.

Krystal Brewer

BSc, Microbiologist

Growing up in the Fredericton area, Krystal went to UNB and received her Bachelor of Science majoring in biology. After graduating, she began her career as a microbiologist with Impact and has over 14 years’ experience in the laboratory and food testing industry. She is dedicated to test integrity, reporting and supports client’s food safety needs.

Manon Desjardins

BSc, Microbiology Lab Technologist

Manon grew up in Bathurst, NB and moved to Moncton to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry at Université de Moncton. She then attended McGill University and obtained a BSc in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Over the years, Manon has gained experience in various laboratory sectors such as academic research, veterinary and biomedical fields before joining our team as Laboratory Technician.

Sarah Cook

BSc, Manager Microbiology Services

Sarah, originally from St George, NB attended UNB to complete her Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology. Having worked in food from an early age from the butcher shop to blueberry processing, she found passion in supporting safe food production. Sarah has a wealth of experience in food sustainability certifications and auditing. With over 20 years of food industry experience she fosters a team culture of excellence and innovation at IMS.

Peter Beers

BSc, Market Manager Food & Beverage

Peter, originally from Moncton, New Brunswick, boasts over 13 years of experience in the food manufacturing industry. His career spans 7 years in operations and over 5 years in account management. Peter is well-versed in audit requirements, including BRC, SQF, and CIFA, and brings a strong background in sanitation consulting and industrial hygiene to the table. Peter is a new addition to the IMS team and is looking forward to adding value to our existing and future customers.
